The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the November 16, governorship election in Ondo state, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, has denied allegations that he is working discreetly for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Agboola Alfred Ajayi.

Otunba Akingboye said he dumped the PDP alongside his followers for the betterment of Ondo state.

Akingboye, who spoke in Akure, said he joined the SDP because the party’s ideals and philosophy aligned with his manifesto.

The SDP guber candidate said talks that he is working for the emergence of Ajayi was a huge joke.

He boasted that he would win the November polls because several youth groups and artisans had volunteered to campaign for him.

He said: “It is laughable for people to say I am working for Ajayi or the PDP. I am in the race to win.

“Ondo people have seen that the PDP and APC have nothing to offer. The SDP as I represent is their hope to get abundant jobs, quality education, good roads, adequate welfare, and free health care.

“There are no plans for me to step down. I will never do so. You will see how big the SDP is when the campaign begins.”
