Two Commissioners in Abia State have allegedly resigned their appointments.
The affected Commissioners include the Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor Monica Ironkwe; and her science and technology counterpart, Chima Oriaku.
No official statement has been issued on the development.
But an online platform reported that the duo were sacked by Governor Alex Otti.
Efforts to get confirmation from the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku, were not successful as at the time of filing this report as he did not pick calls put across to him.
But when the link of the trending online report was sent to him for confirmation, he wrote:”The two Commissioners resigned from the cabinet. No one was sacked. Disregard the trending rumour”.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, who said he was in a meeting when contacted, promised to get back to our Correspondent on the matter.
Recall that Commissioner for Health, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo, was about a month ago, suspended.
A panel was also set up to investigate her alleged “gross misconduct” but the outcome of the findings of the panel chaired by the Deputy Governor, Ikechukwu Emetu, is yet to be made public.
Otti during the inauguration of the Commissioners, warned that his administration had zero tolerance for corruption and underperformance.
