The daughter of Soboma and Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, Chukwu, was found dead under suspicious circumstances outside the gate of her Parkview, Lagos home on Wednesday, July 31.
Initial investigations suggest that recently hired domestic staff, who had been with the family for less than a month, might have staged the scene to imply that Chukwu was outside the house at the time of her death. Evidence indicates an attempt to clean up blood inside the house and the compound, suggesting a different narrative.
Soboma Ajumogobia, Chukwu’s father, is the younger brother of Odein Ajumogobia, a former Minister of State for Petroleum and former Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that three domestic staff members have been arrested in connection with the case. They have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department, which is leading the investigation.
Hundeyin noted that the arrests followed instructions from Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, to ensure a thorough investigation into the death.
Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
