Lagos is currently under a heavy security presence as the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1st commences. Roads and streets are noticeably deserted, save for a few commercial buses.
Security personnel, including the CP Tactical Squad from the Lagos State Police Command, have been deployed to strategic locations across the metropolis. The usually bustling BRT terminals are empty, and businesses such as banks, eateries, fuel stations, and supermarkets remain closed.
While no protesters have been sighted as of 7:30 AM, armed personnel from the Rapid Response Squad are stationed throughout the city. Surveillance is being conducted by a police helicopter, and armored vehicles are positioned at key locations like Gani Fawenhimi Freedom Park and Peace Park in Ojota.
It is worth noting that some individuals have been observed engaging in idle activities on major roads such as Ikotun,Egbeda, Dopemu, Ikeja, and Ojota.
