Doyin Odebowale, the former Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties and Strategy to late Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu on Sunday said the federal government should try Nnamdi Kanu for the destruction of properties that took place during the #EndSARS protest in 2020.
Kanu, the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
He is being tried for treason charges by the Federal Government.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, Odebowale also condemned the address by President Bola Tinubu on the #EndBadGovernance Protest saying it fell short of expectations when compared to the statement by UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer
He wrote “They “took it back” in the UK. Miscreants broke into shops and the hotel which serves as the refuge of asylum seekers attacking them.
The beautiful thing, however, is the Prime Minister is not trying to be politically correct. He said all those who destroyed property and stole will be prosecuted”.
“In Nigeria, the President read a drab, uninspiring speech which fell short of expectations. No definitive statements on the killings, burning and looting in Kano, Borno, Yobe and other areas in the North”.
“This has emboldened the hustlers here. They wanted the President to “invite the organisers” for a dialogue. Awon Omo Ole! They have not told us about whose mandate they hold to negotiate on our behalf”.
“I want Nnamdi Kanu tried for our buses and other property burnt in 2020. Anyone who wants him released is my enemy. We are just starting. This insult must be stopped”.
