Segun Sowunmi, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday says a serious National Assembly would have summoned President Bola Tinubu over the ongoing fuel scarcity and price increase announced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Speaking on Channels Television programme ‘Politics Today’, Sowunmi said the NNPCL MD, Mele Kyari should have been sacked long ago.
According to him, the National Assembly as the true representative of the people would have summoned President Bola Tinubu, who is also the Petroleum Minister to do some explanation over the recent revelations by the NNPCL that it is owing foreign petrol suppliers over $6bn.

“I have wondered, except if they have some crooked, underarm dealings that government is not allowing them to get away with, there is no reason why Mele Kyari should be sitting on that chair”.

“A serious National Assembly will not just be calling Mele Kyari. He is too small. A serious National Assembly will be calling the president, who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum to come and answer charges”.
“Appropriation is a very serious issue. One of the best ways to get yourself into impeachment is to abuse your responsibilities and authority. Someone has some serious explanation to do”.
