The leadership of the Labour Party (LP) has asked a former National Treasurer of the party, Ms Oluchi Oparah to stop parading herself as National Women Leader of the party.
The party made this known in a statement issued on Thursday by its publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh.
The statement declared that Oparah was in November 2023 suspended indefinitely as a member of the party for alleged anti-party activities, stressing that her suspension is still subsisting.
The party insisted that Oprah was never the National Women Leader of the party “and she has never contested to be one at any point in time.”
The statement reads, “A person who pretends to be someone else in order to deceive others especially for fraudulent gain is an impostor.
“Therefore, her recent actions using the office of the National Women Leader of the Labour Party to seek pecuniary patronage amounts to impersonation.
“Information available to us has it that Ms Oluchi has been seen at different fora fraudulently posing as the National Women Leader of the Labour Party with the aim of extorting these organisations.
“This development has immensely embarrassed the Labour Party, hence this disclaimer.
“For the records, the National Women Leader of the Labour Party is Mrs Dudu Manuga.
“She alone is constitutionally mandated to oversee the activities of millions of the Labour Party women in Nigeria and across the globe”.
