The Indian Community In Nigeria has congratulated their prime minister,, Narendra Modi, on the conferment of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his two-day visit to Abuja.
Prime Minister Modi, in his speech during the historic visit, expressed heartfelt gratitude and humility on the GCON award.
Addressing a gathering of vibrant Ind ian Diaspora, Modi dedicated the honour to the people of India and the resilient Indian community residing in Nigeria.
He noted that the vibrant Indian Diaspora in Nigeria serves as a crucial bridge connecting the two nations, fostering mutual growth and cultural exchange.
“President Tinubu has honoured me with Nigeria’s National Award. This honour belongs to the people of India. This honour belongs to all of you – Indians living here in Nigeria,” PM Modi stated, acknowledging the contributions of the Diaspora in strengthening bilateral ties.
In his speech, Modi highlighted the enduring bond between India and Nigeria, emphasizing the immense potential to further deepen the strategic partnership across various sectors such as defence, energy, technology, trade, health, and education.
The Prime Minister also reflected on the remarkable progress achieved in the last decade, nurturing the shared vision of collaboration based on Bharatiya philosophy and values.
His visit reaffirmed India’s commitment to advancing global partnerships and highlighted the special relationship with Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy.
This historic event marked a milestone in the flourishing India-Nigeria relationship, with both nations envisioning a future of shared prosperity and mutual respect.
