The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, received the newly appointed Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, and pledged to work harmoniously with her to deliver policies that will benefit Lagosians.
The speaker and other principal officers of the House were received by the governor and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, shortly before the commencement of the weekly State Executive Council meeting.
Meranda became Speaker last Monday when her predecessor, Mudashiru Obasa, was removed by members of the House over allegations of misconduct and financial misappropriations.
Meranda presided over her first sitting on Friday, setting up new leadership and a seven-man Selection Committee.
Speaking during the courtesy visit at his office in Alausa, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu led the speaker and her delegation to the Council Chamber, where the Speaker and executive members pledged to continue a good work relationship.
“During the courtesy visit, the Speaker, her principal officers, and members of the Executive Council reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a harmonious working relationship.
“This alignment between the Executive and Legislative arms ensures that Lagos remains a model of excellence in governance. We will build on the successes of the past and work tirelessly to deliver transformational progress across all sectors. Together, we will continue to implement policies and projects that deliver on our Greater Lagos vision,” Sanwo-Olu wrote on X.com.
