According to a report on SaharaReporters, the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided a radio station, Urban 94.5FM, in Enugu during broadcast on Tuesday.

The anti-graft agency halted the broadcast, arrested the presenters and made away with equipment worth millions of naira.

A broadcaster, Favour Ekoh, was reported to have been forcefully removed from a live programme on Urban Radio, causing significant disruption and raising concerns about press freedom.

In a statement issued on Monday night, the management of the Radio Station said they were shocked as the EFCC was yet to give any official statement why their staff were abducted and equipment seized.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, EFCC is yet to issue any official statement why its officials stormed the radio station.

SaharaReporters’ efforts to speak with the EFCC’s Head Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, were unsuccessful as he did not take his calls.

As at the time of filing this report, he had yet to respond to a text message seeking his comment.
