The Federal Capital Territory Administration has made clarification on its withdrawal of the land title of the Peoples Democratic Party’s secretariat located at Abuja central area, stating that the PDP owes it over N7 million for non-payment of ground rent from 2006 till date.

The FCTA Director of Lands, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, made the disclosure while briefing journalists shortly after the administration’s executive council meeting chaired by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday.

Nwankwoeze futher stated that while the PDP headquarters at Wadata Plaza does not belong to the political party, the owner of the property also owes the administration from 1998 till date, leaving the administration no choice but to revoke the land titles alongside over 4,000 landowners who have defaulted.

He also appealed to residents to desist from blackmailing the FCT Administration, maintaining that all actions are for the good of the people.

The Director of Lands further advised affected property owners interested in offsetting their debt to appeal to Wike to reconsider his decision and issue a grace period.

Apart from issues surrounding land titles in the metropolis, the FCT executive council also approved the sum of N1.940,572,410 for the procurement of earth moving equipment such as excavators, wind loader and others to enhance operational activities of the Abuja metropolitan management council.

Also, the council approved over N200 million for the procurement of Microsoft license to help enhance revenue collection in the FCT by transitioning from manual process of revenue collection to automated process.
