Operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested popular Lagos socialite and businessman, Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, popularly called E-Money, for allegedly misusing the Naira notes.

Sources within the commission said on Tuesday that E-Money was arrested on Monday night at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos for allegedly spraying United States dollars, an act said to violate the Foreign Exchange Act.

โ€œOn Monday night, we arrested E-Money for Naira abuse and defacing foreign currencies. Specifically, he was alleged to have sprayed US dollars, which is against the Foreign Exchange Act.

โ€œHe was arrested at his Omole, Lagos residence. Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and he will be charged in court as soon as investigations are concluded,โ€ the source said.

Another source who pleaded anonymity stated that E-Money was being flown to Abuja for questioning.

โ€œYes, he has been arrested and is being flown to Abuja as I speak, to face investigators on the issue.โ€

At the time of filing this report, the EFCC has not issued any official statement on the development.
