AGN Revokes Adanma Luke’s Suspension, Calls For Enhanced Safety Standards

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has lifted the suspension on producer Adanma Luke, which was imposed following the tragic deaths of five crew members, including actor Junior Pope, on the set of her movie “The Other Side of Life” in April.

The guild’s national president, Emeka Rollas, announced the decision after a National Executive Council meeting, stating that Luke’s suspension has been revoked and that the ban on filming in riverine areas has also been lifted.

However, the AGN has urged members to adhere strictly to safety protocols and follow the safety standards outlined in the guild’s bylaws to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The statement signed by the national secretary, Abubakar Yakubu, reads: “The National President of the Guild, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, use this opportunity to announce the lifting of the suspension placed on Adanma Luke, producer of the movie ‘Another Side of Life,’ where star actor Junior Pope and four other crew members lost their lives in Anam river.

“The President also lifted the ban on filming in riverine areas but cautioned members to apply all safety standard measures recommended in the AGN Bylaws.”

The initial suspension was imposed after an investigation revealed that Luke had violated safety protocols, leading to the tragic incident on April 10, where five crew members drowned after their boat capsized in the River Niger.

The AGN’s decision to lift the suspension and ban followed a thorough review of the case and a commitment to prioritising safety in the film industry.
