Anambra 2025: APGA Leaders Defect To APC, Citing Neglect

In a significant political development, former chieftains of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, citing neglect by the present administration.

The former APGA leaders, who include former ward chairmen and executives, announced their decision at a meeting in Umueri, Anambra State.

They claimed that despite their efforts in delivering victories for APGA in the past, they were neglected and abandoned by the present administration.

The 21 over 21 Support Group, which comprises these former APGA chieftains, said they were instrumental in the re-election of former Governor Willie Obiano and the election of Professor Soludo, but were left with no choice but to join the APC, where they hope to find a more inclusive and appreciative political environment.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr. Nchee Chinedu, said: “We will go back to our various wards and register as full members of APC. We want a leader who can deliver good governance and development.”

Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, a former Member of the House of Representatives, represented Sir Paul Chukwuma, an APC governorship aspirant at the event, and thanked the group for their decision.

He promised that they will not regret their choice, and that the APC will rebuild the state’s infrastructure and human capital.

The defection is seen as a major blow to APGA and a boost to APC’s chances in the upcoming governorship election in Anambra State.
