The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially commenced its recruitment exercise for 2025, assuring Nigerians of a transparent, fair, and free application process. Announcing on its official X page, the agency warned the public to be cautious of fraudsters who might attempt to exploit unsuspecting applicants during the recruitment period. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has fumed over its revelations that there were 5,225 flight delays and 190 cancellations in two months in the Nigerian aviation space. This is as it also vowed to impose stiff sanctions on domestic airlines following the ugly development. NCAA said 190 domestic flights were cancelled while 5,225 delays were delayed between September and October 2024. One person was reportedly shot while others were arrested after women of Okpare Community in Ugheli South Council Area of Delta State took to the streets over their botched annual conference. One John John Ogedegbe was shot while no fewer than eight youths and a woman were arrested while protesting over the takeover of their community town hall by the military. At least 69 people, including 25 Malians, have died after a boat bound for Spain from West Africa capsized off Morocco, Mali’s authorities confirmed yesterday. The “makeshift boat” was carrying about 80 people, but only 11 people survived, said a statement from the Ministry of Malians Abroad. At least nine of the survivors are from Mali. The boat capsized last week, but the ministry confirmed the incident on Thursday. A crisis unit has been dispatched to monitor the situation, it said. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has been urged to intervene and ensure that several factories sealed by the State Water Regulatory Commission (LASWARCO) over unresolved water abstraction fees were reopened. The Defence Headquarters has insisted that air strikes from the troops weren’t responsible for the death of about ten villagers in Sokoto but explosives of the emerging terrorist group, Lakurawa.
