Governors under the aegis of the Nigerian Governors Forum have rejected the proposed N60,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers. In a statement issued on Friday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs for NGF, Halimah Salihu Ahmed, the governors said the proposed minimum wage is too high and not sustainable. NGF expressed concerns that if the N60,000 minimum wage is adopted, many states would allocate their entire Federal Account Allocation Committee funds to salaries, leaving no resources for development projects. The House of Representatives has asked security agencies in the country to carry out a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances leading to the murder of soldiers by yet-to-be-identified gunmen. The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), in conjunction the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, has approved 86 standards for the implementation of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) project. Its Director General/Chief Executive, Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, announced this at a two-day management retreat, with the theme: Service Optimisation, Greater Effectiveness and Performance Enhancement for Renewed Future, at the Ibom Icon and Golf Resort in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital. The Director-General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu on Wednesday in Abuja presented the official version of the new National Anthem.
