The Supreme Court has dismissed the suit filed by Kogi and 15 other States challenging the legality of the laws establishing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and two other anti-corruption agencies. The other agencies are the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU). In a unanimous judgment on Friday, a seven-member panel of the apex court held that the suit was without merit. A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has fixed November 27 for the arraignment of the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaha Bello on alleged diversion of the state funds to the tune of N110.4bn. Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu has approved a $2.2 billion external borrowing plan to strengthen the country’s finances and support economic reforms. Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, explained that the financing package will be raised through a combination of Eurobonds and Sukuk bonds, with approximately $1.7 billion expected to come from the Eurobond offer and $500 million from Sukuk financing.
