The House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of Urban Development and Regional Planning, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and four contractors handling roads and housing projects in Akwa Ibom State to appear on Thursday unfailingly. The summon is sequel to poor execution of various projects. Chairman, House Committee on Urban Development and Regional Planning, Awaji-Inombek Abiante Dagomi, has consequently directed the clerk of the committee to officially invite the affected persons. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the 2024 Ondo State governorship election. The State Returning Officer, Professor Olayemi Durotimi Akinwunmi of the Federal University Lokoja, announced Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the election at about 2:30 pm on Sunday. Incumbent governor Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 366,781 votes to defeat his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed collation of results in the Ondo Governorship election after a recess. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared all 18 local government area results announced so far with a strong lead in all. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second. The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Worldwide has distanced itself from a reported visit to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, during which a pledge of support for his 2027 presidential bid was allegedly made. The United Nations has revealed that Israel has approved only a quarter of the over 21,000 patient evacuation requests submitted from Gaza since October 2023. According to UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and its partners facilitated the evacuation of eight children and six companions from Gaza to Jordan earlier this week. These patients are expected to continue to the United States for specialised medical treatment.
