The late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja will be buried in Abuja on Friday, his family has announced. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has conducted a major raid on wine shops in Mararaba Market and the New Nyanya and Masaka areas of Nasarawa State. According to a post via its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, the operation targeted counterfeit and adulterated wines and spirits, resulting in the seizure of products valued at over ₦41.2 million. NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement team was actively investigating the importers or manufacturers behind the counterfeit drinks. NAFDAC, therefore, urged consumers to remain vigilant and report suspicious products to the nearest NAFDAC office for immediate action.

Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has banned the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun and vigilante group, among others, from participating in the Ondo State governorship election. No fewer than 17 political parties will participate in the election slated for November 16, 2024. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has continued with flood intervention in Rivers State by distributing relief items to those affected by the disaster in the Ruhali Community of Ogbogoro Kingdom, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. The relief items, including rice, garri, vegetable oil and seasoning, were distributed directly to the beneficiaries by NEMA in collaboration with the Rivers State Emergency Management Agency.
