Following the Federal High Court judgement that affirmed Julius Abure as the national chairman of the crisis-ridden Labour Party (LP) and also affirmed the national convention of the party in Awka, Anambra State, the LP caretaker committee, led by Senator Nenadi Usman, has resolved to appeal the judgment at the Court of Appeal. In an effort to rid the region of fake, adulterated and counterfeit products, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has destroyed seized counterfeit products worth N10 billion in the Northeast zone. The commodities were publicly burnt by the agency in Gombe State on Wednesday. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has raised its pump price of petrol in Abuja by 14.8 per cent to N1,030 per litre from N897. The latest price increase makes it the second time the petrol price has been hiked in the past month. The company had in September increased pump price from N615 per litre to N897. Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, has directed that the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway should be re-constructed with concrete pavement to address the threat of water to asphalt pavement. Umahi gave the directive during an inspection of emergency repairs of a seven-kilometre stretch of the road within Lagos State, on Tuesday. The Federal Government has set a May 2025 timeline for the completion of the 47-Kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, saying the project would be ready then. The Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, gave the assurance while inspecting an evacuated but now refilled section of the road that had served as a refuse dumpsite.
