A 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, has allegedly stabbed his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, to death at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State. The incident was said to have occurred on Friday after a heated argument between the couple. The wife was pregnant and the incident is coming just three months after their wedding. The Action Peoples Party (APP) has won 22 chairmanship positions out of 23 in the Rivers State local government election. According to The Punch, the Chief Election Officer of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, made this known on Saturday in Port Harcourt, the state capital. While declaring the results, Enebili said the announcement is suspended in Etche Local Government Area because the results collation is ongoing. He stated that the results for Etche LGA will be declared alongside that of the 319 councillorship seats at a later date.
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that two separate explosions occurred in different parts of the state on Saturday. It reported that the first explosion took place at the All Progressives Congress Secretariat along Aba Road, while the second struck the Obio/Akpor Local Government Secretariat, just outside Port Harcourt. Michael Eja, the director general of Cross River Lottery and Gambling Agency, has revealed that approximately 60 million Nigerians engage in gambling daily. Eja made this known during the launch of a new sports betting platform, Woskybet, in Abuja on Friday. The noted that the gambling industry in Nigeria was a booming valued between N500 billion and N600 billion.
