The Department of State Services (DSS) has slammed a N5.5 billion defamation suit against a group, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) for allegedly making false claims that officials of the agency invaded the  Abuja office of the group. In the suit, filed in the names of two of its officials – Sarah John and Gabriel Ogundele – the DSS stated among others, that the alleged false claim by SERAP has negatively impacted on its reputation and that of the two officials involved. The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the sudden death of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Bolaji Olugbenga, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ijanikin Police Station.  CSP Olugbenga reportedly collapsed in his office on Thursday evening and was later pronounced dead.  Confirming the report, the Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Benjamin Hundeyin, during a press briefing on Friday night did not provide specific details about the officer or the circumstances surrounding his death. The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, has confirmed the killing of two persons over cult-related matters. The commissioner confirmed the killings during a press conference on Friday, at the police headquarters in Ikot Akpan-Abia, Uyo.
