Darius Ishaku, former governor of Taraba State, was, on Monday, arraigned before Justice S. Oriji of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja, over alleged misappropriation of N27 billion state funds. Ishaku, alongside former permanent secretary, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bello Yero, are facing a 15-count charge of criminal breach of trust, conspiracy and conversion of public funds. Joint security forces in Anambra State have killed a member of a secessionist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and seized several items, including police uniforms. Residents of Kano State have been warned against being part of the planned October 1 protest. The warning was handed down by the state police command which said it would not condone residents being part of the protest, vowing to deal decisively with any person or group of persons that violated the order. In a statement, the Taliban’s Supreme Court announced on Monday, said that the woman received a punishment of 30 lashes and was sentenced to six months in prison. There are indications that ahead of the October 1 protest by some Nigerians, police commands of various states have deployed personnel to some of the flashpoints.
