Businesswoman Halla Tomasdottir was set on Sunday to become Iceland’s new president, election results showed, beating former prime minister Katrin Jakobsdottir, who critics said was too political for the post. Organised Labour in Ondo State has begun mobilising  members in preparation for indefinite strike action on Monday. A source said the Ondo Labour would officially declare its stand on Sunday. The source said the workers in the State would be mobilised to join the strike action. However, some residents in the State, have expressed pessimism over the strike action. They said the strike was necessary but that labour should not elongate the strike action. Popular activist Aisha Yesufu has reacted to her viral video of sitting while the new National Anthem was recited at an event. The human rights activist was recently seen sitting and refusing to stand up when a recitation of the new National Anthem was going on. Donald Trump’s campaign said Friday it had raised nearly $53 million in online small-dollar donations after he was convicted in his New York hush money trial, boasting that the verdict had galvanized his support “like never before.” The record haul was equivalent to more than $2 million raised per hour, it said. The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has confirmed that Nigerian students studying abroad were ineligible for the newly introduced student loan scheme. The NELFUND’s Managing Director, Akintunde Sawyerr, disclosed this information on Friday. The Access to Higher Education Act, 2023, signed into law by President Bola Tinubu on June 12, aims to provide interest-free loans to indigent students attending Nigerian tertiary institutions. The move is in line with Tinubu’s campaign promise to enhance education funding.
