The Ogun State Police Command, on Sunday, promised to increase its presence in some flashpoints across the state to ensure that the security of the residents is never threatened during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. The command also promised to provide 24-hour patrol of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Kara Long Bridge and Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode-Benin Expressway. Officers of the Special Operation Unit of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have busted a cartel controlled by a drug baron, 49-year-old Kelechi Monday Nwaobasi and his 50-year-old elder sister, Ms. Chinwe Rose Nwaobasi. The Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr Jide Idris has blamed the outbreak of cholera in the country on poor sanitation, personal and environmental hygiene, and lack of access to clean water. Idris who said this while speaking on a programme on Channels Television on Saturday noted that the agency is conducting a risk assessment, and alerted all the states on the outbreak.
