The Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Resources Authority (NMDPRA) has issued refining licenses to three companies to build new refineries in Abia, Delta, and Edo States. According to an X post by the NMDPRA on its official page, the proposed refineries that have been issued licenses are a 100,000 bpd refining license to Eghudu Refinery Ltd in Edo state, MB Refinery and Petrochemicals Company Ltd license to establish a 30,000 bpd refinery in Delta State, and a 10,000 bpd refinery issued to HIS Refining and Petrochemical Company Ltd. in Abia. The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) has explained that there were no shortfalls in salaries paid to federal workers in January and February 2025. The OAGF said the salaries that workers received in January and February 2025 were their normal salaries after the various arrears that were paid from October to December 2024 were exhausted. The OAGF said it was imperative to make clarifications on the purported shortfall in January and February 2025 salaries in order to ease any anxiety in the minds of workers. Two teachers at Ibru College, Agbarha-Otor in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State have been suspended for fighting in the school and ordered to clean the staff toilet for one month. The school’s disciplinary committee in its report found both guilty of fighting within the school premises. The report condemned the fight as a violation of professional ethics and imposed a series of penalties on the teachers involved, Mr. Agofure R. and Mr. Etuh G. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has mourned the passing of Dr Doyin Okupe, the former spokesman to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. He described the death of Okupe, a physician and co-founder of Royal Cross Medical Centre, who passed away at 72, as a great loss to Nigeria, particularly the people of Ogun State. The national grid experienced a system disturbance on Friday, leading to power outages in several parts of the country, including Lagos. The incident occurred as the Federal Government was celebrating what it described as a historic increase in power generation to 6,000MW. However, power generation suddenly dropped below 1,000MW at 2 p.m., falling from about 4,000MW recorded earlier in the day.
