Gunmen have ambushed and killed four policemen in the Irete community along Onitsha Road in Owerri, the Imo State capital. According to sources, the gunmen attacked the policemen who were on stop-and-search duty in the area. A Point of Sale (PoS) operator was also reportedly killed in the ambush by daredevil gunmen. The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has directed police top brass to protect intending participants of the planned #EndBadGovernance protest slated for August 1 to 10, 2024. This was contained in a response letter by the IGP to the request of human rights lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa. South Africa’s ruling ANC on Monday expelled its former leader ex-president Jacob Zuma for leading a rival party into elections following disciplinary proceedings.
