Kingibe and the Minister of the FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, have been engaging each other in a public row. Ghanaian chef Ebenezer Smith, who claimed to have broken the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, has been arrested. In its Tuesday report, Asaase Radio—a privately owned radio station in Accra, broke the news. The radio station stated that the chef was arrested and detained at the La police station on Tuesday, shortly after he announced his achievements during a press conference in the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. The Lagos State Government on Wednesday called for calm over the flash flood caused by the torrential rainfall experienced throughout the state. The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, made the plea in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos. “Lagos has experienced about nine hours of non-stop rainfall since the early hours of Wednesday. “This is coupled with the heavy rainfall which the state has been experiencing daily since the previous week resulting in the rise in level of the Lagos lagoon,” Wahab said. The Rivers State Police Command in an effort to contain the excesses of ONELGA Security Planning and Advisory Committee, OSPAC, across the state has arrested over eight of the vigilante members for their alleged involvement in criminal activities. The Central Bank of Nigeria has warned against the continued rejection of old series and lower denominations of the United States of American dollars by its regulated entities in Nigeria. The bank threatened to sanction lenders that rejected the currencies.
