The Rivers State House of Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, has condemned the resolution by the Martin Amaewhule-led House, barring Governor Siminalayi Fubara from spending public funds. The Speaker, Victor Oko-Jumbo stated this in his opening remark during plenary on Tuesday. A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has rejected an application by former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele for permission to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) for follow up medical check up. Justice Hamza Muazu, in a ruling on Tuesday, held among others, that Emefiele failed to supply sufficient materials to show that the medical trip was essential and unavoidable. Justice Hauwa’u Bello of the Federal High Court, sitting in Kaduna has convicted and sentenced the quartet of Daspan Eric Domshak (a.k.a Batshon Abe), David Awu Tanko (a.k.a Sara Khongs), Emmanuel Caesar Yakubu (a.k.a Jessica Simeon) and Tobi Segun Kazeem to prison for internet fraud. Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested a crypto billionaire, Linus Williams, popularly known as BLord. Blord was arrested in Abuja on Tuesday, July 16, following allegations of cryptocurrency fraud, terrorism funding, and aiding internet fraud among others against his companies. The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to public polytechnic authorities to suspend implementation of a ‘contentious’ scheme of service put together by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The Naira yesterday depreciated to N1,555 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,545 per dollar last week Friday. Similarly, the Naira depreciated to N1,577.29 per dollar in the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market, NAFEM. Data from FMDQ showed that the indicative exchange rate for NAFEM rose to N1,577.29 per dollar from N1,563.8 per dollar last week Friday, indicating N13.49 depreciation for the naira.
