A section of a two-storey residential building in Abuja collapsed on Saturday morning, trapping several people in the rubble. The building, located beside the well-known Cupid Hotel on Cupid Road (Sultan Dasuki Way) in Kubwa, was formerly a hotel named Al-Hilal. It later became a hospital before being converted into a residential apartment. The Peoples Democratic Party has implicated the former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in the crisis within the Edo State chapter of the party. Edo PDP has been facing internal conflicts since the governorship primary election on February 22, 2024, which resulted in Asue Ighodalo becoming the governorship candidate. Discontented party members subsequently took legal action against the party. A two-story school collapsed during morning classes Friday in north-central Nigeria, trapping about 120 students and teachers, and setting off a frantic search for those in the rubble. A local television station reported 12 deaths. Authorities are yet to confirm the number of students and teachers killed in Saints Academy college in Plateau state’s Busa Buji community. The former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has urged politicians not to over stretch the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, as this could adversely affect execution of projects and retard development in the Niger Delta region. The Adamawa/Taraba Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has seized 85 200-litre drums of petrol being illegally conveyed to the Republic of Cameroon. The command also seized 795 25-litre jerry cans of the same product found concealed on a bush path at the Sahuda section of the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
