The Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (PMG-MAN) on Sunday bemoaned the paucity of foreign exchange in the country, saying it had negatively affected the local pharmaceutical industry. The group raised concerns at a news conference in Lagos on the forthcoming 7th edition of the Nigeria Pharma Manufacturers Expo (NPME), billed to take place on Sept. 4 and 5. NAN reports that some multinational pharmaceutical companies, including GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi Nigeria Ltd, exited the country within the past year. GlaxoSmithKline…
China posted on Monday lower-than-expected growth in the second quarter, with all eyes on how top officials gathering for a key meeting in Beijing might seek to tackle the country’s deepening economic malaise. The world’s second-largest economy is grappling with a real estate debt crisis, weakening consumption, and an ageing population. Trade tensions with the United States and the European Union, which have sought to limit Beijing’s access to sensitive technology as well as putting up tariffs to protect their markets from cheap, subsidised Chinese goods, are also dragging growth down. And on Monday, official statistics showed the economy grew…

Burberry chair, Gerry Murphy described Schulman as “a proven leader with an outstanding record of building global luxury brands and driving profitable growth.” In a separate statement, Murphy said Burberry’s recent “performance is disappointing.” Revenue slid 22 per cent to £458 million ($594 million) in the group’s first quarter, or three months to the…

The congress made the call in a communiqué read after its Second National Executive Council meeting yesterday in Benin. The lawyer expressed the view in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Lagos. NAN reports that the House of Representatives recently passed for second reading a bill…

England captain Harry Kane has described it as tough and painful losing the Euro 2024 final to Spain. Substitute Mikel Oyarzabal scored a dramatic late winner as Spain triumphed in Sunday’s Euro 2024 final, beating England 2-1 to win the Euro championship.
