President Bola Tinubu has arrived at Mapo Hall for the coronation of Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin as the 43rd Olubadan of the ancient capital city of Ibadan. The president is being represented at the event by the minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu. He arrived in the company of some chieftains of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state. The venue has been agog with a series of activities as the dignitaries await the arrival of the Olubadan-designate who has been in seclusion for some days, in preparations for the coronation.

A two-storey school building in Plateau State has collapsed, leaving many students and teachers trapped, with several feared dead. Reports indicate that the incident occurred at Saint Academy, located in the Busa Buji community of Jos North Local Government Area, around 8:30 am on Friday, when many students and teachers were already in their classrooms. The collapse has shocked the community, with distraught residents and parents rushing to the school to check on their children.

The former Minister of Power, Mr. Saleh Mamman, who was remanded in prison custody over his alleged complicity in a N33 billion fraud, on Friday, secured bail from the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. The court, in a ruling that was delivered by Justice James Omotosho, granted the defendant, who is answering a 12-count charge, bail to the tune of N10 billion with two sureties in the like sum. ECOWAS Court of Justice has struck out a suit by Incorporated Trustees of Egalitarian Mission for Africa (EMA) and Prof Bola Akinterinwa on the sanction imposed on Niger following a military takeover. Justices Edward Asante, Dupe Atoki and Sengu Koroma held that events have overtaken the suit as sanctions imposed on the country have been lifted by Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The Senate on Thursday, July 11, threw out a Bill that seeks the establishment of a foreign exchange market in Nigeria. The Bill titled: “The Foreign Exchange (Control and Monitoring) Bill, 2024” was sponsored by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa (APC -Niger East).
