Angry youths protesting the upsurge of bandits attacks in Benue State have burnt down the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) office in Sankara, headquarters of Ukum Local Government Area, Benue State. Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner & Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, wishes to alert the general public on the plan by a shadowy group to instigate a “protest” against the Commission. In the last couple of days, the group has been actively campaigning in the social media, recruiting impressionable young Nigerians, including students to take up “arms” against the EFCC. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has suspended his Senior Special Assistant, SSA, on civil societies, Comrade Emmanuel Adebisi over the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice. The civil society coalition in the State through its Secretary, Comrade Olowu Emmanuel had disclosed that the bags of rice collected in their name was never delivered. “There has never been a time, since the coming of this administration that anything meant for civil societies delivered. Flooding has overtaken residential areas and major roads across Lagos State following days of heavy rainfall. The rain, which lasted for many hours on Wednesday, resulted in severe flooding in various parts of the city, including Ibeju-Lekki, Ketu, Oworonshoki, Oshodi, Epe, Sangotedo, and Awoyaya, others.
