The Senate on Wednesday, July 10, suspended its legislative activities in honour of Hon Olaide Adewale Akinremi representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo state. Akinremi was said to have passed on in the early hours of Wednesday after a brief illness according to a statement by the spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Akin Rotimi. The Senate upon resumption of plenary announced the demise of Akinremi and observed a minute silence in his honour. It thereafter suspended plenary and all legislative activities for the day in line with its standing orders.

Actress Toyin Abraham has denied she arrested a Twitter user’s mother. The user had taken to the social media platform to claim the filmmaker arrested his mother illegally. However, Abraham set the record straight, stating that she only made a report at the cybercrime unit due to threats to her life and family. A two-term member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Musiliudeen Akinremi, popularly known as Jagaban, is dead. Although details of his death were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, the lawmaker was said to have died on Wednesday at the age of 51. The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Kaduna State chapter, has suspended its warning strike.
