The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II has suspended 67 Enigie in Benin Kingdom with immediate effect. The Benin Traditional Council, through the Secretary of Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, made this known in a statement in Benin. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday admitted in evidence receipts of school fees paid to the American International School, Abuja (AISA) in favour of the children of the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello. The receipts were among other documents tendered by the prosecution at the resumed hearing in the trial of the ex-governor on an N80.2 billion money laundering charge. A Kano-based woman, Hauwa Abdullahi Ibrahim has been convicted for smuggling $1,154,900 and 135,900 Saudi Riyals from Saudi Arabia into Nigeria. Hauwa was jailed after pleading guilty to a two-count charge of money laundering before Justice S.M Shuaibu of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano. Hauwa was arrested by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano after she failed to declare the funds as required by law. The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, on Friday, commenced a 21-day traditional rites popularly known as “Oro Opebi.” A statement by the Chief of Staff to the monarch, Rotimi Osuntola, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, confirmed this on Friday. The House of Representatives has charged the Federal Ministry of Aviation to enforce punitive measures against airlines operating in the country over flight delays. The House also urged the ministry to sanitise the industry and ensure strict adherence to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Act 2022 and Part 19 Of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority Regulations, (CARS)2023. The Police Command in Plateau says cases of ritual killings in the state are minimal. The Police Public Relations Officer of the command Mr Alfred Alabo said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Jos.
