The National Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has imposed a hefty fine of N555.8 million on Fidelity Bank for violating its customers’ data privacy. This was announced by the NDPC’s National Commissioner, Vincent Olatunji, during a Validation Workshop on the Nigeria Data Protection Act General Application and Implementation Directive held on Wednesday in Abuja. Fidelity Bank was found to have breached the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) of 2019 and the Nigeria Data Protection (NDP) Act of 2023. The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Bauchi State office, has begun a three-day exercise in Bauchi markets to mop up fake Milo chocolate drinks in circulation. NAFDAC State Director, Dr Paul Kamai made this known on Wednesday in Bauchi. Kamai said: ”The NAFDAC office began the inspections in markets and superstores to get rid of the fake Milo in circulation following a directive from the Headquarters. “This exercise will last three days starting Tuesday,” he said. The Naira depreciated on Tuesday to N1,600 per dollar in the parallel market, down from N1,590 per dollar last weekend. In contrast, the Naira appreciated to N1,579.22 per dollar in the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market. NAFEM is the trading segment for investors, exporters, and end-users where forex transactions are conducted at exchange rates determined by current market conditions. Following cases of fake certification recently detected by the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), examination boards in Kenya and Uganda are now writing Nigeria to verify records presented by Nigerian candidates seeking admissions into tertiary institutions in their respective countries. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has explained why the anti-narcotics agency is proposing a drug test for students of tertiary institutions. On Tuesday, NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who spoke on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, said that the agency is treating drugs as a public health issue and not a criminal offence “We’re treating this as a public health issue, not a crime, let me quickly put that in perspective,” he said.
