A white woman with a history of harassing children and using racial slurs was convicted of manslaughter on Friday in the fatal shooting of a Black neighbor last year in Ocala, Florida. Susan Louise Lorincz, 60, killed Ajike “AJ” Owens with a single shot from a .380-caliber handgun as Owens knocked on her apartment door on June 2, 2023. Anambra State Commissioner for Youths Development, Patrick Aghamba, and his wife have been kidnapped. Four more bodies have been recovered from the site of a massive garbage landslide in the Ugandan capital Kampala, bringing the death toll to 34, police said Friday. The collapse at the landfill in the northern district of Kiteezi at the weekend buried people, homes, and livestock in mountains of fetid waste. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says three drug kingpins and 16 other offenders have been convicted and sentenced to a total of 302 years in prison. NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Friday, said they were sentenced for trafficking and dealing in illicit drugs. They were convicted for trafficking cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis, and opioids among others. Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons, have retained their 36th position in the latest global ranking by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association. The Falcons also maintained their position as the top-ranked women’s football team in Africa, according to the ranking released on Friday, 16th August 2024.
