Striking resident doctors in Nigeria have ended their seven-day industrial action in response to the abduction of their colleague, Ganiyat Popoola. The strike, which began last Monday, faced strong opposition from the Federal Government, which threatened to enforce the ‘No work, no pay’ policy. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited says it is seeking to engage reputable and credible Operations and Maintenance companies, to operate and maintain the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company and the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company. This was disclosed in a statement on Friday on its official X handle. The Warri refinery located at Warri in Delta State was commissioned in 1978.  Warri is a complex conversion refinery with a nameplate distillation capacity of 6,250,000 MTA (125,000 bpd). The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has issued a one-month notice to traders and other market stakeholders involved in exploitative pricing to crash the prices of goods. A Thursday statement by the commission, said the Executive Vice-Chairman of the FCCPC, Tunji Bello, gave the order at a one-day stakeholders’ engagement on exploitative pricing in Abuja. The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it would not release Permanent Voter Cards to third parties. INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. According to him, the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards to new applicants across Edo State local government areas will commence today. Swedish international midfielder Kristoffer Olsson, who was hospitalised in February with a rare brain illness that left him without motor or verbal skills, has returned home from his rehab centre, he announced on social media.
