The prime minister has scrapped a government helicopter contract – thought to be worth £40m. Rishi Sunak was criticised for his use of helicopters during his time in No 10. The contract was set to be renewed, but is now being scrapped by Downing Street and the Ministry of Defence. Swedish international midfielder Kristoffer Olsson, who was hospitalised in February with a rare brain illness that left him without motor or verbal skills, has returned home from his rehab centre, he announced on social media. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has issued a warning alert to six northern states, to prepare for severe thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall in the coming days. The warning was contained in a statement by the government agency on Monday. According to the agency responsible for weather forecasts, said northern states to be affected include parts of Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Northern Kaduna, and Zamfara States. The Federal High Court will hear the money laundering case against crypto exchange Binance and two of its executives next week. According to a report by Reuters, the case comes more than a month earlier than planned, after defence lawyers asked for the date change, the prosecutor said on Monday. The next court hearing, originally scheduled for Oct. 11 has now been fixed for Sept. 2. A Texas judge on Monday ordered a temporary pause on a policy that would streamline the process for spouses of US citizens to obtain legal status in the country, a blow to one of US President Joe Biden’s biggest immigration reform policies. Judge J. Campbell Barker granted a 14-day administrative stay in a case brought by the Republican attorneys general of 16 US states challenging the Biden administration’s policy. The Sokoto State Police have denied any knowledge of the abduction of over 150 people in the Sabon Birni area, which allegedly occurred a few days after the brutal murder of Sarkin Gobir Gatawa, Isa Muhammad Bawa.
