The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has condemned the statement credited to Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume, that the organized labour committed a treasonable felony for shutting down the national grid during the strike. The Ondo State Government has faulted the competence of the suit filed before the Supreme Court by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) on Local Governments autonomy. In a notice of preliminary objection filed for the state by its Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo (SAN), Ondo State argues that it is not within the constitutional powers of the AGF, who filed the suit in the name of the Federal Government, to query how a state runs its LGs or administer their funds. Rivers Development Foundation (RiDeF) has called on Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara to probe the outgoing Local Government Chairmen. The group, in a statement by its President Dr. Rejoice Okoli, pointed out that there were allegations of corruption and gross misconduct against some of the outgoing council bosses. Following several hours of meeting on Friday, the Federal Government and the organised private sector have increased their offer for the new minimum wage to N62,000 from the earlier N60,000. However, the organised labour is proposing N250,000 which is a shift from its earlier N494,000. In a crackdown on internet fraud, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 suspected fraudsters, with 4 nabbed in Abuja and 11 in Port Harcourt. The suspects were arrested in sting operations carried out simultaneously in both cities, following weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering by EFCC operatives.
