Newly-elected UK Prime Minister, KeIr Starmer, has made his first set of appointments into the cabinet, BBC reports Friday. This follows his centre-left Labour Party’s landslide general election victory that ended 14 years of Conservative rule. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Friday, beefed up security at its Lagos office in response to a proposed protest. Vanguard reports that the Commission had raised the alarm about some groups planning a series of protests against its activities. The Court of Appeal has dismissed the ex parte order given by the Rivers State High Court, in Port Harcourt, on May 10, 2024 stopping Martin Amaewhule from parading himself as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
