A Bayelsa State High Court, sitting in Yenagoa has sentenced a 41-year-old father, Baridapsi Needam, to 14 years imprisonment for raping and impregnating his daughter. The victim, however, gave birth to a baby girl in the pendency of the trial. The accused, Needam, in the suit numbered YHC/14C/2022 was charged with the offence of rape contrary to Section 1(1) of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Bayelsa State, 2021. Police have arrested a woman after footage emerged of a female prison officer having sex with an inmate in an HMP Wandsworth jail cell. The suspect was taken into custody yesterday on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The video shows a prison officer engaging in sexual acts with an unidentified prisoner at the Category A jail in south-west London. The 1 Division Nigerian Army Kaduna said its operatives have arrested 47 suspected rail track vandals. The division’s acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Officer, Lt.- Col, Musa Yahaya, disclosed on Saturday in Kaduna. The Ondo state police command has dragged a 35 year old herb seller, Taiwo Mufutau, before an Akure family Magistrate court, for allegedly, defiling his 8 year old biological daughter. The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Friday affirmed the judgement of a Lagos State High Court, which sentenced Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, popularly called Baba Ijesha to five years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old minor.
