The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, has dismissed recent reports questioning his academic credentials, affirming that he duly graduated from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 1985. Addressing journalists on behalf of the Minister in Abuja, Dr. Robert Ngwu reaffirmed that Chief Nnaji is a proud alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, having obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry, Second Class (Honours) Lower Division in July 1985. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has directed its members nationwide to withdraw their services from 12:01 a.m. on Monday, September 29. In a communique issued after an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) over the weekend, and signed by its general secretary, Lumumba Okugbawa, the union accused the refinery of violating labour laws and international conventions by terminating the employment of over 800 workers for joining PENGASSAN. A firm, Nexamont Company Limited, has acquired a 21.4 per cent equity stake in Royal Exchange Plc. In a corporate disclosure from the Company Secretary, OOT Nominees, which was filed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited, Nexamont had acquired the stakes via the second market. According to its half-year report, Nexamont held a 19.08 per cent stake in the company from 1,577,399,535 units of Royal Exchange. Former Delta State Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori has paid glowing tributes to the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja on the occasion of his 81st birthday which comes up on Thursday. He was found dead at his home in Hyde, northwest England, with no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, according to Greater Manchester police.
