A member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Lolo Isaiah Opuende, has dismissed an invitation from Governor Siminialayi Fubara for a crucial meeting at Government House, Port Harcourt. At least seven oil companies indicted in the Auditor General’s report for owing millions in unpaid royalties have committed to refunding approximately $37.4 million to the Federation Account by the end of August 2025. These companies are among 23 listed in the 2021 report by the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation for failing to meet their royalty obligations. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a Lagos-based automobile spare parts dealer, Levi Ubodoeze, for attempting to export two kilograms of cocaine concealed in vehicle propellers to Angola. The Nigerian Correctional Service (Prison) has spent over N3.3bn on feeding awaiting trial inmates over the course of two months. As of early January 2025, the number of awaiting-trial inmates stood at 48,932, and by the end of February, this number had risen to 53,254, the NCoS revealed on its website. This increase in the number of inmates, coupled with the feeding allowance per inmate, which was raised by President Bola Tinubu from N750 to N1,125 per day, has significantly impacted the NCoS budget.
