A former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Chief Dubem Onyia, has died. He was aged 73. A report by Law and Society Magazine said that he died yesterday [Sunday] in London. Onyia, who was elected member of the House of Representatives in 1999, later resigned to serve as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs from 1999 to 2003. At least seven oil companies indicted in the Auditor General’s report for owing millions in unpaid royalties have committed to refunding approximately $37.4 million to the Federation Account by the end of August 2025. These companies are among 23 listed in the 2021 report by the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation for failing to meet their royalty obligations.
