The Department of State Services (DSS) has requested that X Corp. take down a tweet posted by popular activist Omoyele Sowore criticising President Bola Tinubu. Angela Rayner has resigned as deputy prime minister and housing secretary after admitting she did not pay enough stamp duty on her second home. She has also quit as deputy leader of the Labour Party, an elected post. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Olasijibomi Suji Ogundele, the Chief Executive Officer of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, wanted for alleged financial crimes. In a post on its social media handles on Friday, the anti-graft agency said Ogundele was being sought in connection with a case involving “diversion of funds and money laundering.” According to the EFCC, Ogundele, a 44-year-old indigene of Ori-Ade Local Government Area in Osun State, was last traced to G29, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos State. Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Ehigiator Arase has passed away at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja. Arase, who served as Nigeria’s 18th Inspector-General of Police, was later appointed Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC). Before becoming IGP, he headed the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau, the police force’s top intelligence unit. The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun has charged the publisher of SaharaReporters, Omoyele Sowore with false publication and forgery. In a three-count charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/374/2025 filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, the IGP accused Sowore of among others, making false publication about the police on his media platforms and forging a police signal. A United States District Court has sentenced the Apetu of Ipetumodu in Osun State, Oba Joseph Oloyede, to 56 months in prison over his involvement in a multimillion-dollar COVID-19 relief fund fraud. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Miss Evelyn Osagie, Assistant Editor at The Nation newspaper, describing her death as a painful loss to journalism and the nation’s cultural community.
