The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Friday affirmed the judgement of a Lagos State High Court, which sentenced Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, popularly called Baba Ijesha to five years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old minor. The appellate court in its lead judgement delivered by Justice Folashade Ojo found the Appellant, Baba Ijesha, guilty on counts 4 and 5, where he was accused of indecently touching a minor and sexually assaulting her. The Supreme Court has upheld the conviction and six-year jail term handed to former Managing Director of the now defunct Bank PHB, Francis Atuche by the Court of Appeal in Lagos in a judgment delivered on June 23. Two people were confirmed dead, while 16 people reportedly survived the recent cholera outbreak in parts of Rivers State. The State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, who disclosed this in a press statement she personally signed in Port Harcourt on Thursday, clarified that as of the time of the address, there were no cases of cholera in the state.
