Underage voters allegedly participated in the local government election that was held in Bauchi State on Saturday.

From the images gathered, children were seen holding ballot papers, standing on queues, and waiting to cast their votes.

Video footage captured children at Maciya Polling Unit, Senior Primary School Polling Unit, Bunusai Polling Unit in Ningi West and Ningi East Wards casting votes.

Meanwhile, in a surprise upset, Yunusa Muhammad, the councilorship candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), has been declared the winner of the Papa Ward councilorship election in Bauchi State. The election was held on August 17, 2024.

According to the Returning Officer, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, Yunusa Muhammad polled 1,156 votes, defeating his closest rival, Ashiru Mohammad Papa of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 1,053 votes. The All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Idris Mohammad, came third with 290 votes.

“I, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer of the Papa Ward councilorship election in Bauchi held on the 17th day of August, 2024. That Yunusa Muhammad of AAC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Abubakar declared at the collation centre in Darazo on Saturday.
