Dangote Refinery: Otedola Urges Support For Dangote

Billionaire Femi Otedola has called for increased support for Aliko Dangote, emphasizing the critical role Dangote plays in Nigeria’s industrial and infrastructure sectors. Otedola praised Dangote for his extensive contributions, which include the world’s largest single-train refinery and several other significant facilities.

In a recent post on X, Otedola described Dangote as a “titan” whose achievements extend beyond business to essential infrastructure, such as major roads and critical industrial plants. He argued that supporting local business champions like Dangote is crucial for Nigeria’s national development and economic independence.

Otedola highlighted Dangote’s extensive investments, including the largest sugar and cement factories and one of the largest fertilizer plants globally. He also noted Dangote’s role as a major employer and taxpayer, contributing significantly to the country’s economy.

Drawing parallels with historical figures like Cornelius Vanderbilt and modern tech giants supported by governments, Otedola stressed the importance of recognizing and supporting local visionaries. He pointed out that similar support has been crucial for business leaders in other countries, helping to drive their economic growth.

Otedola’s comments come amid recent issues surrounding Dangote’s refinery, including claims of regulatory challenges and operational delays. Despite these challenges, Dangote has offered to sell the refinery to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) to address concerns about industry monopoly.

Otedola’s call to action underscores the need for a supportive environment for local business leaders to drive national progress and economic development.
