Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has signed the 2025 appropriation bill of Three Hundred and Seventy-Five Billion, Seven Hundred and Ninety Million, Seventy-Seven Thousand, Six Hundred Eighteen Naira, Fifteen Kobo (N375,790,077,618.15) into law.
In his address on Monday, the Governor stated that 51% of the bill will be appropriated for Recurrent Expenditure, while 49% will be allocated for Capital Expenditure.
Oyebanji noted that the detailed breakdown of the 2025 Appropriation Law, referred to as the Budget of Sustainable Impact, will soon be presented to the public.
The Governor pledged to meet revenue targets to ensure the full implementation of all the ambitious programs and projects outlined in the budget.
He also promised to strengthen relationships with development partners to garner support for specific projects in Ekiti.
His statement read in part, “In the 2025 fiscal year, we shall strive to meet our revenue targets to ensure the implementation of all the ambitious programs and projects in the budget. We will also further strengthen our relationships with our development partners and seek support for the implementation of specific projects in the state.
“As you are aware, our administration places a high premium on the welfare of our public servants. The commencement of the implementation of the minimum wage in December 2024 underscores our commitment. As the saying goes, to whom much is given, much is expected. We hope our public servants will reciprocate this gesture through greater dedication to duty and the delivery of optimal quality service.
“We will also continue to address the welfare of our senior citizens who have served the state meritoriously by ensuring timely payment of their pensions and gratuities. As you may know, we are up to date on our monthly pension payments and have significantly reduced the state’s gratuity backlog. To date, we have settled outstanding gratuities owed to civil servants amounting to N5.6 billion, thereby reducing the backlog by four years.
“The total size of the 2025 budget is Three Hundred and Seventy-Five Billion, Seven Hundred and Ninety Million, Seventy-Seven Thousand, Six Hundred Eighteen Naira, Fifteen Kobo (N375,790,077,618.15), of which 51% is allocated for Recurrent Expenditure and 49% for Capital Expenditure.
“The breakdown of the 2025 Appropriation Law, the Budget of Sustainable Impact, will be presented to the public and the press by the Honourable Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning, and Performance Management in the coming days.”
