John Stones’ last-gasp header gave Manchester City a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Wolves on Sunday, sending them to the top of the table in a thrilling Premier League clash at Molineux Stadium.

Wolves struck first in the 7th minute through Nelson Semedo, who set up Jorgen Strand Larsen. Larsen fired a close-range shot into the bottom left corner, leaving Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson with no chance.

The early goal put Wolves in control, but City quickly responded.

In the 33rd minute, Josko Gvardiol levelled the score with a powerful strike into the top right corner, giving City a crucial equaliser before half-time.

Both teams continued to press for a winner in the second half. Ruben Dias and Ilkay Gundogan had strong chances for City, while Wolves’ Matheus Cunha tested the City defence with a long-range effort that went wide.

As the match approached the final minutes, Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa made a string of impressive saves, including a spectacular block to deny Jack Grealish’s shot from inside the box in the 89th minute.

But in stoppage time, City found the breakthrough. In the 95th minute, a corner kick into the Wolves’ box found John Stones, who rose above the defence and powered a precise header into the top of the net.

The goal was briefly reviewed by VAR for any possible infringement, but the decision stood, sparking wild celebrations from the City players.

The dramatic victory moves Manchester City to the top of the Premier League, keeping their title hopes firmly alive.
